WisCaregiver Careers offers two pathways into caregiving and health care: Certified Direct Care Professional (CDCP) and Certified Nurse Aide (CNA). Explore your options to find the path that matches your goals, the care setting that interests you, and how you want to get started.

Certified direct care professional (CDCP)

Looking to build skills for home and community-based care? The CDCP program is a flexible way to get started - even if you don't have prior health care experience.

  • Care setting: Home and community-based care
  • Training: 30 hours of free, fully online training
  • Experience: No prior health care experience required

CDCP may be a good fit if you want to build practical skills for direct care or support someone you care for.

Certified nurse aide (CNA)

Interested in caring for residents and building a health care career? The CNA pathway connects you with a participating skilled nursing facility. From there, you'll complete the required training and testing as you work toward a CNA certification.

  • Training: Through a participating facility
  • Experience: Eligibility requirements apply

CNA may be a good fit if you want to pursue certification and a career caring for residents in a skilled nursing facility.
